Privacy Policy & Terms

Kord is designed with a fundamental principle: your data is yours, and it stays on your machine. We do not have servers to process your data, we do not collect telemetry, and we do not see your files or calendars.

1. Local Processing (Zero Data Exfiltration)

The majority of Kord's features operate entirely locally on your Windows PC:

File Indexing: The Quick Search index is built locally and stored as a JSON file in your AppData folder. It is never uploaded anywhere.
OCR (Smart Copy): Reading text from your screen relies on Windows' built-in local OCR engine. No pixels or parsed text are ever sent to the cloud.
Natural Language Processing: Kord parses your sentences (e.g., "meet joe next monday 12 30 pm") using local parsing libraries. It does not use external LLMs, and your queries do not leave the machine.

2. Google Calendar and Tasks Integration

Kord provides a two-way sync with Google Calendar and Google Tasks. This integration works by communicating directly between your PC and Google's servers. We do not operate a middleman server.

What is accessed: Your calendar events, task lists, and tasks.
How it is used: To display your schedule and tasks on your desktop widgets, to allow you to edit or create new events and tasks, and to search them via Quick Search.
Storage: Authentication tokens and a local cache of your events are stored securely in your machine's local configuration directory.

3. Network Requests

Kord only makes external network requests for features you explicitly enable or use:

Weather & Air Quality: Requests are made to public weather APIs based on the location you specify in the settings.
Direct Site Searches: Typing a shortcut like "yt/lofi" opens your web browser directly to YouTube's search URL.

License: You are granted a personal, non-exclusive license to use Kord on your personal or professional Windows machines.
Provided "As Is": The software is provided without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any data loss, though the software makes no modifications to your files outside of explicit creation requests through Quick Search.
API Usage: You agree to use the integrated APIs (such as Google Calendar) responsibly and in accordance with their respective terms of service.
